Abby's Story

Growing up, I always had pets, but it was the dogs I truly bonded with. My appreciation for these loyal companions deepened further during my years working at a dog kennel, where I learned to nurture and understand their unique personalities. However, the true inspiration for this business came from one special dog—Abby.

This is her story.

In the spring of 2021, my mom and sister drove from Kelowna to Grand Forks to pickup our new puppy. When they arrived at the breeders house, they found many puppies inside but only Abby ran to my mother and gave her lick, as if she already knew she'd found her family.

From the moment Abby was brought home, her gentle nature and teddy bear-like charm captured everyone's heart. Taking her shopping felt like walking with a celebrity—strangers couldn't resist stopping to pet her, and Abby, ever the social butterfly, was more than happy to soak up the attention. But her magic wasn't just in her looks; she had an incredible ability to sense emotions. Whether it was offering a cuddle on a tough day or simply sitting quietly by our side, she always knew how to comfort us. In the mornings, Abby had a funny way of waking me up. She would sniff at my door, then nudge it open. When I cracked my eyes open, there she was—fuzzy face and all—staring at me with impatience, as if to say, "Hurry up! It's time for an adventure!

Abby lived by a few simple goals: to love and be loved, to play fetch, and to chase squirrels. When she wasn't outside in hot pursuit of her tiny foes, she could be found indoors, watching them intently through the windows. The countless nose smudges on the glass were a testament to her unwavering focus.

Despite her small size, Abby was fearless when it came to playing with bigger dogs. She darted around them with confidence, and even if she got knocked over, she'd simply shake it off and dive back into the fun, undeterred. We especially loved watching her hop through tall fields of alfalfa, disappearing momentarily and then reappearing with her ears flying and her face beaming with a permanent smile. Her unique charm didn't stop there, Every night, she'd grab her favorite toy, stand in front of us, and let us know it was time for bed.

Since Abby's sudden passing in July 2024, there isn't a day that goes by without missing her lively presence. While the sadness of her absence lingers, I am deeply grateful for her life and the joy she brought into mine. Her legacy lives on through this business, inspiring me every day to provide the same love and care she brought into my life. It brings me happiness to continue working with dogs, knowing that Abby's spirit will always be a part of this journey.
